The latest release by Earth, the product of master-mind Dylan Carlson. The band is famous for the creation of the drone/doom genre of music which in the early 90's they almost single handedly killed the entire world with. However, this album is far from a drone record, it can hardly even be classified as a metal record. Soft, sweeping guitar lines and monotonous, rythmic drumming are sure to extract you from this world and deposit you into the next if you give this album a spin. An unclassfiable album although it contains hints of post-rock and western.

Sleep - Dopesmoker (2003)
Sleep's 2003 release Dopesmoker is arguably the most essential of all stoner albums, even though it was released well after the stoner scene began. This album is guaranteed to get you into that chilled out, lazy mood, as the puffs of weed seem to excrete from the speakers and into your conciousness.
Slow, monotonous and pounding!!!!

Anathema - Judgement (1999)
What a way to begin the blog. Here we have the Liverpudlian's magnum opus album from 1999 whereby they have now almost fully transformed into an 'atmospheric rock' band and lost most of their roots in doom metal.
Their new album is out now, so go out there and get it if you can, it is worth it, We're Here Because We're Here (2010.)
